First, let’s talk about not drinking enough water.  This results in multiple side effects that are not good.  For example, dehydration can cause fatigue, confusion, headaches, and even grumpiness. On the extreme end, dehydration is a major risk factor for kidney stones.  During the summer months when we perspire more than any other time of year, it’s even more important to drink water.

How much water you need to drink daily is up for debate. According to webmd.com, a common recommendation is to drink six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily.  Variations come into play—depending on health, amount of exercise and climate. Common sense dictates that the more you exercise, especially in heat, the more water you need to drink. If you‘re sick with the flu or an infection, you need to drink more water than usual. And, pregnant and breastfeeding women need to drink a lot of water with frequency.
